Yay Curl Junkie!

YaY my curl junkie products arrived yesterday, I'm so happy!
Of course I could not wait to try them so soon after I opened the box I tested out the products.
Here is what I had to say

Here are some pictures of my hair from my First use:

I'm still a bit frizzy in the back BUT I think it has something to do with my diffusing technique and not distributing the product evenly throughout my hair. But the level of shine and softness was amazing

Here are pictures of my hair at the end of the 2nd  day. I used Nourish Spa by Trader Joe's along with Curl Junkie Cleansing Conditioner. Nourish Spa really does define my curls and make them bit tight. So, I'm not sure if my curl definition was from the Curl Junkie Products or Nourish Spa. I still have to work on remembering apply product in sections so that I don't miss any spots.

Still frizzy I did not distribute product evenly and I diffused.
Diffusing tends to give me frizz.

Look at the sheen no oil only product on my hair!

My hair has been on a downward spiral the last few months. I've been experiencing crazy shedding and my hair has been breaking off because the shed hair is getting tangled in my curls and causing knots. My mane has be taking on the appearance of a birds net and I was left with no other option than to do a second BIG CHOP, well not a complete chop but enough to make me cry.
So I'm back to my BC hair regime of giving extreme TLC to my hair so that I can maximize my hair growth and maintain length.
Of course I'm allowing myself some product junkie indulgences and the first on the list of my indulgences is Curl Junkie products. Specifically:

  1. Curl-Junkie-Bottle-Styling-Solution
  2. Curl Junkie Smoothing Lotion
  3. Curl-Junkie-Daily-Cleansing-Conditioner
I can't wait for them to arrive! I also want to re-vist, Kinky Curly "not today" conditioner.

My hair regime today:

  • Black Tea Rinse w/ essential oils (anise, cinnamon, Baobab oil, peppermint oil)
  • Washed with Shakai Natural shampoo
  • Conditioned with Jason Biotin conditioner
Styling products
  • Jane Carters Curl Define Cream
  • Eco Styler Aragon Oil Gel
  • Qhment Biologics Moringa tree Conditioning Ghee

Upcoming Products!

I've decided to try out the MYHoneyChild products. Since these products got mixed reviews I decided to go conservative and by the smaller sizes.
The products I selected are:

  1. Molasses Hydrating Deep Conditioner     $9.00  4oz
  2. Sophia's Herbal Mixture                           $5.00  2oz
  3.   Twist Out!                                                    $9.00  4oz
  4.  Peppermint Clarifying Shampoo            $5.00 4oz
  5. Banana Creme Conditioner                     $5.00 2oz
Now, I'm no cheapskate but these products are not cheap for the quantity you receive.  I understand all natural quality ingredients cost more and I totally support that.  Right now I just want to try them and if I like them I'll have no issue with cost.

My goal is to move to totally natural products. My only issue with using natural products is that most contain Coconut Oil. My Hair HATES coconut oil.
My Hair however LOVES LOVES LOVES the following oils:
Olive Oil, Sesame oil, Jojoba Oil and Avocado Oil.  And favorite Humectant is HONEY!

Krika, the owner of MYHoneyChild has many products that I want to try that don't include Coconut oil. So, if I like my first round of products I'll go back for more.

Stay tuned!

April Protective style week #1

I washed my hair with Head & Shoulder conditioning shampoo and Giovanni Smooth as silk Shampoo.
Deep conditioned with: Olive Oil, Sesame Oil, Honey, Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deep Conditioner and Suave Shea Butter Conditioner.

Styling Products: Qhemet Biologics Burdock Root Butter Curls Passion Fruit Hair Paste

I was able to wear this style for one week before washing. My goal is to protect my hair for maximum hair growth. I'll only wear my hair out maybe 2-3 times this month. By OUT I am referring to a TWIST OUT.
And since I just ordered My Honey Child Products I'll have to test it for its Twist out properties LOL!
